Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki
Principal Investigator

Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki is a Professor at the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay. He received his M.Tech degree from IIT Bombay and his doctoral degree from IMEC (Interuniversity Microelectronics Center), Belgium in 2004. In 2003, he was awarded the EMRS (European Material Research Society) young scientist award and in 2009 with the Young Investigator Award at IIT Bombay. He is leading two government-sponsored projects of national importance, National Center for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE) and SoULS initiative sanctioned by the MNRE. With 20+ years of experience in the Renewable Energy Sector, authoring 100+ publications and 4 books to his credit, he is working on developing frameworks and active implementation of solar interventions to ensure abundant clean energy access in rural India by developing a sustainable, localized solar ecosystem.

Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran
Principal Investigator

Dr. Jayendran Venkateswaran is a Professor at the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at IIT Bombay. His interests are in operations research, supply chain management, and simulation. He received his Ph.D. in Systems and Industrial Engineering from the University of Arizona, Tucson. Prof. Jayendran is also the Principal Investigator in the SoULS initiative at IIT Bombay, which aims to provide solar study lamp to every child in rural India as part of its ‘Right to Light’ mission and works on operational excellence and research. His contribution to operationalizing localization, supply chain management, standardization of operations, and implementing the best practices for overcoming the supply challenges in the rural areas is immense. Through system dynamics modeling, he helps to understand the barriers and enablers in effectively establishing supply chain.
